Surrey Art Gallery School Programs
Description
The Surrey Art Gallery offers studio workshops, exhibition tours, and outreach education for all grade levels. All studio workshops are taught by art educators. The art activities are process-oriented and encourage students to experiment and explore. Tours are developed by experienced docents (trained volunteer educators) in concert with Gallery Education staff and are designed to help students enhance visual literacy and critical thinking skills as they respond to original works of art. Exhibition tours precede each morning workshop. Outreach education includes First Nations Contemporary Art and a Hands On Clay Kit; students will see slides of the artists in their studios and of the artists' work followed by a related hands-on art activity.
