ABL - Adventure Based Learning & Outdoor Education
Description
Horne Lake Proncial and Regional Parks on central Vancouver Island offer a spectacular location for Adventure Based Learning (ABL). ABL supports a learning model where students become more attentive, creative and retain new knowledge better when they are learning outside their 'comfort zone'. Using specially selected outdoor activities and facilitated debriefing, our instructors aim to develop soft skills in students. On the rock, students gain confidence but also learn about fear, trust and risk-taking. The canoeing program steers at communication and working in a team. The Cave Tours teach earth science in a wild natural environment. The Challenge Obstacle Course works on individual physical skills, communication and a team approach. And the Horne Lake Amazing Race is just plain fun! Combine these rewarding activities with camping in a teepee and you now have a field trip everyone will remember! A range of options from basic day-trips to fully catered overnight package allows you to customize the program to meet your budget needs. 3 day package with 4 core activities AND camping only $84 per student.
