Our Field Trips
-
Yale recreates the feeling of the old time gold rush days. Children may dress in period costumes, take part in skits as they recreate the characters from historical records here at the Yale Museum. Students might be storekeepers in the general store, some may choose to be the barkeeper or maybe a gambler or card player in the saloon! There are opportunities to act out scenarios based on Yale history as the students walk the streets of the 'old Fort Yale tent city.' Teachers are also welcome to wear period costumes and enter into the interactive play. Our museum guides and interpreters will show the students how to pan for gold, right on site at our gold trough. If they strike it lucky, students might pan and find flakes of gold. Most of the gold panners find garnets to take home even if they don't hit the jackpot. If you are a teacher looking for a fun and interesting way to have hands-on experience when teaching your students about our local history, native culture and language arts, a School Tour is just the field trip for you and your class. Be our guests, come to Historic Yale, live the gold rush adventure and maybe even take home some gold.

The Overnight Tour includes the costumed Living History Site visit as well as a river trip down the Mighty Fraser from Yale to Hope with the experienced guides of Fraser River Rafts.
