Guided tours of the Museum geared towards English learners are offered for groups of 8 or more people. Worksheets are available for different levels of English ability to facilitate students' experience through the exhibits.

See, touch and learn all about trains in this interactive hands-on program for ages 3-5. Be your own train with our box car kids costumes. Then take an imaginary journey with Jessie on our 1920s passenger car. Finally, explore the station museum with a scavenger hunt for railway tools and objects.

Experience the exciting world of trains in this interactive hands-on program. Re-enact a 1920s train trip across Canada in our authentic railway car, the Venosta. Learn to send a telegraph and signal a train in an historical CPR station with real railway artifacts.

What does it take to start a community? Participate in an art activity, recreating the budding town of Port Moody. Examine objects used in turn-of-the-century facilities such as the general store, the telephone company and the school. Explore the Museum displays in a guided scavenger hunt. *The art activity is available as a do-it-yourself kit.

How does industry impact a community? Learn about the fur trade, railroad, port, lumber mills, and others as you play our industry bingo. Listen to the stories of industry workers of the past, handle objects and examine historical photos and documents. Program adjusted to meet curriculum objectives for each grade level. *Program materials available as an in-class kit.

Did you know that Port Moody is the original terminus of the CPR? Learn the role of Port Moody in the fur trade and as an early port for the Royal Engineers. Discuss the impact of the railway on Canada and the Lower Mainland. Have a firsthand look at a working train station, the stationmaster's living quarters and a first-class CPR passenger car and examine artifacts from railway history while exploring the Museum's exhibits with guided question sheets.

Animating History (grades 4-8) Animating History is an innovative workshop that connects media literacy and storytelling through the creative exploration of BC history. Youth create a 1-2 minute animated film based on the story of the building of the trans-Canada railway. Students work cooperatively with a professional animator and museum interpreter to experience history and the stop-motion animation process.
