Re-visit Victoria's past by exploring St. Ann's Academy's restored 1858 chapel and grounds. Students will: take part in guided discussions of school life then and now; analyse archival photos to see change over time; explore building restoration and try faux finish woodgrain painting; create a simple map of the grounds; and discuss fur trade society and try words of Chinook Jargon, the language of the fur trade.

Through the exploration of key events on the coast over the past two centuries, examine the factors which drew immigrants to British Columbia, and the social, economic and political challenges they faced in Canada.

Sail back in time and learn about women whose lives were changed by their journeys at sea. Lean what life aboard ship was like for women, the role they played in exploration, immigration and at times of war.

James Cook ranks among the world's greatest explorers and map makers. This history of long-distance travel by sea, the science of navigation, and the clashes between cultures are all discussed in this program.
