UBC Botanical Garden including Greenheart Canopy Walkway

Our Trips

Children of all ages love to learn about food gardens! Take your students on a discovery of Vancouver's oldest food demonstration garden and a 16th century medicinal garden. Observe seasonal fruits and vegetables and learn about the importance of pollinators in food networks. Whether you are teaching students about ecology, human geography, agriculture or cooking we have some food for thought.*****

UBC Botanical Garden is a great place to take your class. Whether you teach preschool, elementary, high school or post-secondary your classroom learning can be supported by our activities and lessons. FREE admission for teachers to become familiar with the garden and canopy walkway. Simply show your teacher federation or association ID for complimentary admission for you and one guest (except during Apple Fest or other special events).

This double tour experience is a longer visit, ideal for larger groups that can switch between the two areas.
Students explore the treetop canopy of the temperate rainforest, our Garry Oak Ecosystem and our Food Garden. Students learn about the importance of forests and biodiversity, how trees clean our air and the interconnectedness of trees with people, plants and the planet. Students have a chance to see the variety of ways that people rely on plants for food and medicines.*****
