Round up the kids for A Concert in Your Kitchen! Your child will have a blast jamming along with other kids and members of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

The VSO is delighted to share an interactive and fun virtual concert that invites your children to play along with us at home. Get ready to jam with VSO Principal Percussionist Vern Griffiths, meet Maestro Otto Tausk, several VSO musicians and their friends, and hear what other kids have to say about some exciting musical masterpieces. 

Hosted by VSO Assistant Conductor, Andrew Crust, and VSO Violinist Karen Gerbrecht. Featuring Vern Griffith's Kitchen Concerto.

Your kids will enjoy discovering new musical instruments all around them, so get ready to jam along with the VSO on instruments you can find in your own house!

Before watching the show, with help from an adult, gather the following:

  • Pots and pans
  • Two (2) pot lids
  • Cardboard boxes
  • Crackers, cereal in boxes
  • Chopsticks
  • An empty pop can or other containers with lids
  • A handful of dry rice
  • A cheese grater
  • A whisk, or spoon
  • Tape
  • A piece of paper
  • Four (4) different colour crayons
