Thank you to all the teachers who provided us with some great feedback during last month's field trip bursary draw. We are still going throught the more 300 comments about what you find useful on the website and suggestions for improvement.

Throughout the year the volunteers of the BC Field Trips committee gives away money to help teachers with the cost of field trips. The bursary is available to BC certified teachers who are currently teaching in a K-12 school

The Provincial Capital Commission has extended the deadline for applications for to their Travel Subsidy Program to November 18, 2010.  These funds are meant to support groups from around the province in accessing our provincial capital.  Funds from this round of the travel subsidy proogram are for trips taken between February 2011 and June 2011. Thanks to everyone - teachers, student teachers and exhibitors -  who attended the 8th Annual BC Field Trip Fair, held September 29, 2009 at the Japanese Canadian National Museum at the Nikkei Centre in Burnaby.  400 teachers met and chatted with more than 100 community based educators to lean about the rich learning opportunities available in our community.  At the end of the day, over 1500 students will participate in free field trips, courtesy of our participating field trip sites.  Winners of those prizes will be contacted directly by the field trip location.

Time to plan your first field trip of the year!  Translink is once again supoprting International Walk to School Week by offering free transit for elementary students and secondary students with a valid GoCard the week of October 4-8, 2010.

The Festival of Forestry has an upcoming FREE field trip for teachers October 22-25, 2009.  Teachers will participate in a three day tour of the south central portion of the province, exploring the mountain pine beetle epidemic and the impact that the beetles and climate change are having on wildfires in our province.  Please see the following web link for details and an online application form.
