TreeTrek is a fully guided ecology based tour that takes students through the treetops on a series of suspension bridges and observation platforms. Our mission is to inspire and educate Whistler visitors about Climate Change and Conservation, Health of the Environment and Living Sustainably. While on tour students are able to see first hand the difference in forest composition between the ancient, old growth forests and the second generation forests that exist in the area. All TreeTrek guests are educated about the Natural Step framework as well as information about the local ecology. It is the ideal site for interactive learning and outdoor adventure exploration.

The Contemporary Art Gallery offers engaging arts programs for students from K-12. Led by experienced art educators, participants explore CAG exhibitions through guided observation, facilitated discussion and studio art-making. Utilizing inquiry-based learning strategies, students and teachers are encouraged to creatively experiment with visual art materials and processes as well as critically reflect upon the power of contemporary art to engage with diverse themes, perspectives, and complex ideas.

School programs are offered for grades K-12. There are two options –a one-hour interactive tour of the exhibitions at a cost of $50.00 or a two-hour tour that includes art-making related to the exhibitions for $90.00. Class size is typically capped at 30 students due to the size of the galleries.

Guided visits introduce major themes in contemporary art while making connections to the wider school curriculum from visual and language arts to science and math. To book a guided visit for your class, contact Danielle Green at learning@contemporaryartgallery.ca or 604 681 2700.
