BC Field Trips Blog

In December we asked teachers what they would tell museum educators in preparation for their field trip. Teachers provided lots of positive examples of wonderful relevant field trips as well as some critical reminders to museum educators about the experiences they provide.

In November we asked teachers who entered our field trip bursary draw to tell us about their reasons for incorporating field trips into their practice. We’ve categorized the answers and compiled them into the image below.  (The size of the word or phrase indicates the frequency that it was mentioned.)

 

Thanks to those of you who participated in our December field trip bursary draw. We had 290 teachers enter and we gave away five $200 bursaries to teachers at the following schools:

There’s lots going on during TransLink’s annual I Love Transit Week, coming up  October 2-6.
 
Various activities will be of interest to K-12 teachers and students, including free bus travel for K-12 students from October 2-6, a DayPass contest, and an I Love Transit Camp contest for Grades 3-12.
 

Can't believe we've been getting together with classroom teachers and community educators for 15 years. Join us on September 25, 3 - 6 pm (arrive when you can) for the upcoming Field Trip Fair for Teachers where you'll have a chance to talk to educators from over 60 organisations, enter to win free field trips and transportation bursaries, talk about learning outside the classroom and visit the Olympic Experience at the Richmond Oval | The ROX.

GreetingsThe Master of Museum Education (MED5) program starting September 2018 (application deadline is March 2018) is having  an online information session on Thursday, September 28, 4pm-5:30pm (PDT).
