Farm Observers
Farm Observers helps your students develop long-lasting connections with the land and its cycles, and to slow down and really observe and enjoy the world around them. Classes will practice a variety of naturalist and observation skills on their farm visit throughout the school year. The program is perfect for classes within walking distance of the farms. See our website for more information.

Program includes:
-Three Fresh Roots-led 2-hour field trips (October, April, and June)
-Optional Teacher-Led Farm Visits (November/December, January/February, March, and May)
Situated at Vancouver Technical and David Thompson secondary schools, our schoolyard farms are a short walk from many secondary schools and community centers. All field trips include a farm work experience and a chance to harvest and taste vegetables, when seasonally available. We strongly suggest a 1:8 ratio of adults to students for grades 4-5 and 1:10 for grades 6-12. Required adults are included in the group cost. If your group needs more adult assistance, please let us know on the registration form.
2025-2026 Multi-Visit Program interest forms are now open! Complete the interest form by September 10 at https://freshroots.ca/learn-on-the-farm/.
