Program Description

Explore the Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site to learn about history of boatbuilding and its importance in Steveston. Students will explore different kinds of boat by participating in a boat scavenger hunt, a caulking demonstration, and more maritime-themed activities. These steps will then be applied to a boatbuilding activity, with each student making their own small wooden boat to bring home.

    $210 per class with a maximum of 30 students per class. We can accommodate 2 classes at the same time. 

    Cancellations require two weeks’ notice for a full refund. We will charge 50% of the fee for cancellations made less than two weeks & 100% of the fee for failure to attend the program without notice.

    Or, Spend the day in Steveston exploring two of BC’s most iconic national historic sites—Britannia Shipyards and the Gulf of Georgia Cannery. Joint bookings are available for up to four classes with students rotating between the two locations mid-day.
