THEATRE AND VISUAL ARTS FOR GRADES 1-7
This innovative program explores the theme of voyages through theatre and visual arts. An immersive day of arts activities helps students in grades 1-7 develop critical thinking skills, explore creative expression, and better understand the world they live in.
During this one-day virtual field trip, students are given the supplies to craft an artistic interpretation or response during a number of thematically linked arts classes. For the 2020-21 school year, Arts Umbrella offers this program as a virtual field trip through Microsoft Teams. In order to participate, classrooms must have: Internet, Microsoft Teams, laptop with a webcam, projector and projector screen, and external speakers. Supplies are provided for by Arts Umbrella and will dropped off to school offices. Please note that we are only able to provide this online experience to elementary schools in Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond and New Westminster.
To apply for programming, please email Kelsey Lee, Coordinator, Vancouver Commuity Programs at klee@artsumbrella.com and include "Shaw Creative Journeys Program" in the subject line. Schools in areas demonstrating high economic, social, and cultural vulnerability will be prioritized, as well as on fair rotation. Successful applicants will be notified in 2-5 business days.
