All Regional Parks Field Trips - Maple Ridge

From towering forests to sandy seashores, regional parks are filled with fun, hands-on learning environments. Park interpreters lead field trips outdoors for about 2 hours. Students are engaged in discovery, activities and games related to the topic.

From Pollution To Solution

Fraser River Discovery Centre

(Grades 2-5) Examine different types of pollutants an where they come from, and evaluate how individual actions contribute to the health of the river.

This program is divided into:

Introduction to the Centre, Program and Rules (5 minutes)
PowerPoint Presentation (10 minutes)
Activities (25 minutes each)
- Swim Like Fin board game.
- Examine how plastic pollution affects the birds around the Fraser River Basin.
Video: Journey of the Blob (10 minutes)
Conclusion (5 minutes)

TAIKEN Field Trip

Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre

'Taiken' is Japanese for 'personal experience'. Explore over 100 years of Japanese Canadian history and culture. Learn from community members and elders, engage with our collections and museum exhibits, and participate in fun hands-on activities in Japanese arts and culture such as Karate, Calligraphy, and Origami. Contact the education coordinator about availability. Tours run mornings or afternoons for 120 mins. Please book at least 3 weeks in advance.
