Bring an engaging, interactive experience with Shakespeare to your online classroom! In this session, a Bard Teaching Artist will look at a speech with your class, showing your students how they would work on the text as actors. This interactive close reading will pay attention to the different features of Shakespeare’s language that inform a performance. If time permits, the actor will demonstrate different ways of delivering the speech, with input from the students.

• Where: On your school’s preferred video conferencing platform. Bard Education may also be able to host the session on Zoom; please inquire.
• When: available school days, between the hours of 9 am – 4 pm
• Length: 45 minutes long
• Cost: FREE! (Workshops are valued at $125, and all fees are covered by the Bard Education Bursary Fund for the 2020/2021 school year)

This downloadable digital school program is adapted from MOA’s onsite Architecture: Museum as Muse school program and is designed for teachers to deliver in-person or online. Taking inspiration from museum architecture around the world, students will learn to actively sense, observe and respond to their built environments—and to cultural institutions—in new ways. This 30-minute live digital program is adapted from MOA’s in-person Cedar: Tree of Life school program. In the live digital component—presented by knowledgeable, trained MOA facilitators—students will learn about the deep significance of the cedar tree for Northwest Coast Indigenous peoples, illustrated through cultural belongings in MOA’s teaching collection. The live digital component is part of an overall unit plan, with prerequisite lessons that offer Indigenous voices and perspectives, as well as class activities. These prerequisite lessons accompany the live digital component.

Hop, dive, and flutter your way to this on-line workshop about birds! In this program, you’ll learn about the evolution and adaptations of birds. We’ll discover the feeding and nesting habits of local birds and the remarkable ways that different birds find niches in the temperate rainforest ecosystem.

Get excited about the tiny creatures that live in Lynn Canyon Park. This on-line program features a short introduction to invertebrate biology and a live video session with some local animals such as slugs, worms, and woodbugs. We’ll also take a close-up look at a few of our tiny friends under a powerful magnifier.
