Written to support distance learning but also useful for physically distanced teaching, a Tech-Up Learning Kit contains resources for both synchronous and/or asynchronous lessons. The teacher guide walks you through leading student activities over a series of sessions of approximately 30-45 minutes. Student activities are handouts for students to work through on their own as assigned, according to your own timeline and discretion.

In these activities, learners in Grades 4-6 will explore how parts of speech can be used to strengthen their understanding of variables.

Students will work towards writing their own Mad Lib Stories before using Scratch to code a Mad Lib story generator.

There is also an optional extension activity if you would like to build further on the coding concepts explored in these lessons.

This kit contains resources for both synchronous and asynchronous lessons.

Calling all Drama Teachers! Join us and our friends from the Arts Club Theatre Company for this series of FREE roundtable discussions for Drama Teachers and Teaching Artists.

After a full summer of online programs, many of us have experienced the adventure of adapting our theatre education programs for the digital space. We now invite our theatre education colleagues and enthusiasts to share their discoveries and brainstorm new strategies together. Every Thursday evening in October, we’ll gather on Zoom to discuss, spotlighting two new topics each week.

• When we are together for classes and rehearsals, how do we follow public health guidelines? Can we look at physical distancing and wearing masks as artistic opportunities?

Beyond the Box is collaboratively organised and facilitated by the Education staff from Arts Club Theatre Company and Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival.

Soil is much more than rocks and old leaves - it's a vibrant ecosystem. Since people walk on top of the soil, we often don't consider what's underneath. Your students will explore how soil is made, the layers of the soil, and the animals, plants, and fungi that both rely on and help create a healthy ecosystem.

Discover the differences between vertebrates and invertebrates. In this workshop, you’ll take a close-up look at invertebrates and then look at the interesting features of vertebrate skulls, bones, teeth, and claws. You’ll also learn about the adaptations that help temperate rainforest animals thrive in this cool, wet environment.

BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation (BCAITC) offers 500+ free downloadable agriculture and food resources for K-12 students. The lesson plans, unit plans, activities, recipes, storybooks, videos, and educational resources feature curriculum-connections to Science, Social Studies, Math, English Language Arts, Arts, Food Studies and more subjects.

Teachers, home educators, and students can download the resources here 24/7. These resources introduce food and agriculture education into students' lives to encourage appreciation of agriculture, food, and healthy eating for years to come!

We offer webinars to the public that cover a wide variety of topics, but are often centered around the ecology and organisms of Stanley Park.  

These programs usually range from 1 - 1.5 hours long.
