A Surrey Nature Centre Guide will introduce your students to the basics of wilderness survival. In groups, they will go through challenges to unlock supplies to build their own wilderness shelters. Challenges include edible plant challenge, survival trivia, and wayfinding with a compass. The program ends with the groups presenting their survival shelters.

Visit the Museum on your own. Gallery resource materials are available to support and enhance your self-directed exploration.

Our rental kits feature original artwork by local artists, resource materials, art supplies, and detailed lesson plans for thematic art-making activities. Suitable for Grades K-7.

Ink Trails: The Vibrant Life of an Artist

Find inspiration and explore artistic techniques, subjects, and themes featured in the works of Chinese Canadian master printmaker, Anna Wong. These include nature prints, exercises in abstraction, travel themes, and mixed-media projects. 

Subtopic: Migration Journeys (45-60 minutes, $75)

Play an immigration game through our Vancouver History Virtual Galleries. Explore the galleries and examine suitcases from immigrants while collecting points and money towards immigrating. This program focuses on who immigrates and why, the quality of life for new immigrants, and immigrants’ contributions to Vancouver from the 1900s to the 1950s.

Subtopic: A Seat at the Table (45-60 minutes, $75)

Discover the stories of Chinese immigrants through MOV’s A Seat at the Table: Chinese Immigration and BC exhibition. Reflect on the diversity of their experiences in British Columbia, including their resilience in the face of challenges and the pursuit of justice.*

Subtopic: First Nations of the Northwest Coast Culture (45-60 minutes, $75)

Gain a deeper understanding of First Nations’ traditional culture through Object-Based Learning. Examine belongings from the Pacific Northwest Coast and learn how First Nations Peoples met the basic needs of food, clothing, and shelter.*

Subtopic: Inuit Culture (45-60 minutes, $75)

Learn more about the seasonal cycle of traditional Inuit life through an interactive inquiry-based activity that focuses on Inuit belongings.

Co-created by the Tsleil-Waututh Nation and the Museum of Vancouver, this Kit offers students a unique opportunity to explore environmental stewardship through the lens of Tsleil-Waututh Traditional Knowledge. The Kit highlights the Tsleil-Waututh Seasonal Round and sustainable land and water practices. Students will gain insight into how Coastal Nations have long managed natural resources for the benefit of future generations.

Learn about Ancient Egypt by role-playing archaeologists. Excavate and examine Egyptian artifacts and build a pyramid!
