A VHEC educator will travel to your classroom to present this workshop, free of charge. The workshop features an award-winning Canadian short film, entitled Pigeon, followed by an interactive presentation and discussion. Students learn about the systematic persecution of Jews in France and acts of rescue during the Holocaust. Questions by the workshop facilitator foster critical thinking and ideas about social responsibility and the choices we make.

Sessions run 60 minutes for secondary school classes, 45 minutes for elementary school classes, or as per agreement with the Centre.

What is biodiversity, and why is it important? In this on-line field trip, your students will learn about genetic, species, and habitat diversity. We will explore British Columbia’s diverse ecosystems from deserts to rainforests and learn how local plants and animals are well-adapted to our temperate rainforest ecosystem.

Ever wonder about the life inder the dock? All maner of creatures attach themselves while drifting around. We will send a camera below the surface and examine what's there.

Although we can’t gather right now to experience Shakespeare through performance, there are other ways to discover the vast and varied worlds of Shakespeare! We’ve created these free resources to help you and your students playfully explore Shakespeare’s language, characters, imagery, and plays. Each resource includes a series of asynchronous activities that can be adapted to fit your class's needs.

Explore at Home is hosted on Google Classroom, and can be accessed with a free Google account. Please see our website for instructions on accessing the Classroom. New content is added regularly, so check back often!

Bring an engaging, interactive experience with Shakespeare to your online classroom! In this session, a Bard Teaching Artist will share their experiences as a Shakespeare actor, answering students’ questions about the language, characters, and plays, and what it’s like to bring them to life on stage. This free-form discussion can focus on a specific play or support an introduction to Shakespeare.

• Where: On your school’s preferred video conferencing platform. Bard Education may also be able to host the session on Zoom; please inquire.

Hop, dive, and flutter your way to this on-line workshop about birds! In this program, you’ll learn about the evolution and adaptations of birds. We’ll discover the feeding and nesting habits of local birds and the remarkable ways that different birds find niches in the temperate rainforest ecosystem.

Get excited about the tiny creatures that live in Lynn Canyon Park. This on-line program features a short introduction to invertebrate biology and a live video session with some local animals such as slugs, worms, and woodbugs. We’ll also take a close-up look at a few of our tiny friends under a powerful magnifier.
