Come and join us celebrate the arts with your class! We offer a selection of virtual shows for your preK- Grade 8 students: dance, music, puppetry, story tellings from around the world. 2021 will be the 44th edition of the Festival. We will be virtual this year and give you lots of option to watch the show(s) from the comfort of your classroom for an extended period of time. To simplify your booking this year, we are selling Class Pass(es) at an affordable rate of $60 per class/per show and will allow unlimited streaming from the time the performance is first shown during the week of the Festival (May 31- June 6, 2021) until June 13, 2021. Your class will access a series of six workshops at no additional cost! Come and have fun with us!

The Owls for Tots program is targeted to the 3-5 year age group. It is a very basic program that does not go into a lot of detail but rather is kept simple and direct. During the program the students will learn what makes a bird a bird, how owls are different from other birds, what species of owls are found in Southern BC, some of the dangers they face, and what the students can do to help.

There will be a short question and answer period at the end of the program.

The students will have the opportunity to meet a live owl during their classroom program. As we are working with animals, we cannot guarantee which bird will be available on the day of the program, so we unfortunately don’t take special requests.

This tour includes:

• A guided historical tour in the ski wing where students learn about the contributions early miners made to the sport of skiing;

• Watch the film "Mining to Moguls" and play a trivia game;

• Visit the Sinixt Display to learn about the local Indigenous connection to Red Mountain prior to the arrival of European settlers.

Come learn about the rich and vibrant history of the Indigenous peoples of Interior British Colombia. This tour largely focuses on the Indigenous Nation on whose land we reside, the Sinixt. We will consider Sinixt artifacts and culture while also examining the effects of colonization through our internal program titled "Sinixt & Colonial Contact: A Campaign of Extinction". Our tour will also guide students through activities examining stone artifacts while thinking critically about what we can learn through examination and what information has been lost through time.

Although we can’t gather right now to experience Shakespeare through performance, there are other ways to discover the vast and varied worlds of Shakespeare! We’ve created these free resources to help you and your students playfully explore Shakespeare’s language, characters, imagery, and plays. Each resource includes a series of asynchronous activities that can be adapted to fit your class's needs.

Explore at Home is hosted on Google Classroom, and can be accessed with a free Google account. Please see our website for instructions on accessing the Classroom. New content is added regularly, so check back often!

With onsite school programs on hold, we are offering teachers and homeschoolers alternate ways to bring the farm to the classroom. Inspire your students with an experience of farm life from home. We are taking some of the best activities from our onsite school programs and making them available to become part of your remote learning workplans.

The Arctic is one of the most extreme environments on the planet and home to a diversity of arctic survivalists who are adapted for these intense conditions. Join an Ocean Wise Educator at the Vancouver Aquarium to explore some of these incredible animals and the unique characteristics they have that enable them to survive and possibly thrive in the unique Arctic conditions. As the Arctic conditions change at an increasingly rapid rate, students will explore how these animals may be affected by the changing climate and how human actions have both a positive and negative impact on life all around the planet – even in the seemingly untouchable Arctic. 

The Virtual Aquaclass is an opportunity for students to connect live with a Vancouver Aquarium educator without having to leave the classroom.

Standard programs are $100 per 45-minute sessions and include a Q&A time between students and our expert staff. Choose from our wide variety of programs. This program is customizable upon request* to address specific interest and needs of each group. All programs are available in English or French.
